The Bellwood-Antis girls basketball team defeated Tyrone to win the Reliance Bank Holiday Tournament championship.

The Bellwood-Antis girls basketball team rained down 8 three-pointers on rival Tyrone in the finals of the Reliance Bank Holiday Tournament, but in the end it was the Lady Devils defense that led the way to a 47-23 victory in the championship round.

B-A kept the Lady Eagles from making a field goal in both the second and fourth quarters and limited Tyrone to just six total baskets to earn their first Reliance title since 2019.

Chelsea McCaulsky earned MVP honors with 14 points in the title game, giving her 37 in the tournament. She was joined in the all-tournament team by Lydia Worthing and Leigha Clapper, who scored 12 against Tyrone.

B-A jumped out to a 17-6 lead and led 17-11 after the first quarter before limiting the Lady Eagles to a mere three foul shots in the second to go ahead 28-14 by halftime.

In the third, Tyrone battled back into the game and got the lead under 10 twice, but the Lady Devils got a triple from McCaulsky to begin a 9-0 run to end the frame that had B-A ahead 39-22.

In the fourth, B-A’s defense held Tyrone to a single field goal as the Lady Devils ran away for a 24-point win.

The Lady Devils improved to 6-1 overall and registered their second win over Tyrone in the month of December.

In the consolation game, B-A’s boys got a game-high 23 points from Caleb Beiswenger and 13 from Corry Shanafelt, but their comeback attempt against Bedford fell short in a 62-52 loss.

Beiswenger made the all-tournament team for B-A.
