The Blue Devils added another win to their record after an upset victory over Juniata Valley on Friday, thanks to a last-second shot by junior Chance Schreier.

A back and forth quarter resulted in a Blue Devil win, 70-69.

The Devils inbounded the ball under their own hoop with just seconds left and attempted to execute a quick lob play, but it was broken up by Valley. However, Schreier played until the final buzzer, stripped away the ball, and tossed it into the hoop from under the basket. After the ball rolled on the rim it fell through, bringing a mob of students onto the court after the horn sounded.

Early in the game, B-A was 15 points short of the Hornets, but brought the deficit to 10 points at the half.

By the end of the third, the Blue Devils were down 14 points; however, a battle was fought in the fourth quarter after a quick recovery.

Leading scorers for the game included Holden Schrier with 21 points, Anthony Caracciolo with 19, and Caleb Beiswenger with 13.

The Blue Devils will take on the Moshannon Valley Black Knights Tuesday, January 24 in Moshannon Valley.

GIRLS TOPPLE EVERETT

Saturday the Lady Devils took care of business with a 30 point win over Everett. The game started out close, but B-A pulled away quickly with the help of seniors Lydia Worthing and Chelsea McCualsky.

Bellwood-Antis was able to go up 37-16 at the half. This was too large of a lead for Everett to come back. The girls had a 21 point 3rd quarter to give them 58 points to Everett’s 27.

Lydia Worthing was able to put up her season high with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsea McCaulsky had 18 points, and she is now 15 points away from joining the 1,000 point club.

The Lady Devils are now 12-3 with their next game tonight against Moshannon Valley.
