The Lady Blue Devils basketball team was officially eliminated from playoffs Thursday after a heartbreaking 65-52 loss to Bishop McCort in the District 6 2A quarterfinals.

B-A had gone into the game, which was played at the Bellwood-Antis gymnasium, as the No. 1 seed in the classification. The Lady Devils needed just one win to advance to the semifinals and secure a spot in the PIAA tournament, where they advanced to the final four a year ago.

Although B-A had a 6-point lead going into halftime, Bishop McCort quickly turned things around and took a 47-41 lead by the end of the third quarter. The Lady Devils could never get closer than 7 the rest of the way.

Senior Lydia Worthing had an outstanding 22 rebounds and 25 points, scoring just under half of B-A’s points. However, the Lady Crushers focused on limiting her in the second half. Worthing scored 15 before halftime.

Senior and 1,000-point club member Chelsea McCaulsky and junior Chloe Hammond  had a solid 9-points apiece to add on the night.

Bellwood ends its season with a very good looking record of 19-6, and are ready to improve and get even better for next season.

Congratulations to the Lady Blue Devils on an outstanding season!
