COTY (Citizen of the Year) is a program that’s used as an incentive for good behavior and character throughout the year. If a student fulfills all requirements of COTY, then the student is eligible for end-of-year privileges.

The requirements for COTY include the following:

  • Grades 11 and 12: 5 hours of community service
  • Grades 9 and 10: 3 hours of community service
  • Zero unexcused or illegal absences
  • No more than 10 excused absences (exception for prolonged excuse from doctor)
  • No more than 5 tardies (exception for excuse from doctor)
  • Zero suspensions during the school year
  • Zero detentions during the school year – 1 after-school detention will be forgiven, in return for 3 additional hours of community service
  • Students will be disqualified from COTY if caught cheating
  • Students will be disqualified from COTY if there is violation of the harassment or bullying policy

The benefits of this program are having an “open campus” policy during Finals week and being included in a random drawing for prizes.

COTY forms are due May 5th, 2023.
