This week’s Artist of The Week is Katie Bianchini! They are a senior this year at Bellwood-Antis and have been going here since 1st grade.
They participate in concert band, marching band, and reading competition in school as well as drawing, animating, and writing stories outside of school. Their favorite activity is drawing because they “find it relaxing and stimulating to be able to create whatever [they] want.”
They have had extensive accomplishments through their various activities. One of the more noteworthy ones being that they run a successful YouTube channel with almost 20,000 subscribers. On this channel, they draw and animate when they have free time.
Their motivation to this these things are their interests. They said, “I find a topic or piece of media I really enjoy, and I dive into it. It gives me the inspiration to want to experiment with the character’s personalities and who they really are.”
Their plans for college so far is to get a master’s or doctorate in Psychology. They do plan to continue their activities through college because “art lets me create my own space to do whatever I want.”
To leave things off, they give this piece of advice to younger students who aspire to do the same things they do: “Never stop. There are times when you think your art, music, or your words suck, and at least for a few years it might. But, if you continue to stick with your skill no matter how bad you seem, you’ll learn more and more about it. You’ll develop your art style, and you’ll learn your instrument like instinct.”
Congratulations Katie, and we can’t wait to see what you do next!
