Mrs. Young is the social worker at Bellwood-Antis, and she is a very busy woman, working in all three buildings in the district. Whether you are in elementary, middle, or high school especially she’s always there for B-A students.
Social workers help people cope with the day to day struggles of their lives, and for school students that means addressing a wide range of problems that could include poverty, homelessness and addiction issues, among others.
It’s a tiring job to be there for everyone, no matter the age.
“I love seeing students gain confidence and stability in their lives,” says Mrs. Young. “I have always loved being able to be a safe place for people during challenging times and witnessing their healing journey. I love working with kids and watching them grow into unique individuals, especially those who are working to overcome adversity in their life.”
Mrs. Young isn’t only just a social worker but a member of the Student Assistance Program (SAP).
“My training in mental health and social work along with my knowledge and community resources is valuable to the team,” she said.
One of Mrs. Young’s favorite parts of her job is creating a sense of safety and trust, which she does by creating an environment where people know that they are in judgment free zone and are met with empathy.
