Last week in home economics, students made some exquisite fettuccine alfredo, creamy Mac and cheese, and spaghetti with homemade meatballs and garlic bread.
The fettuccine alfredo turned out amazing. The noodles were cooked to perfection, they were limp, but still also firm like a great noodle should be. The sauce was thick and rich, just a little bit went a long way. It may have had a bit too much butter and garlic, however. Overall, this dish gets a 6.1/10.
The next dish of the week was mac and cheese. Every factor that goes into a great bowl of mac and cheese, this had. Adding some Old Bay seasoning on it really topped the whole thing off. It brought out the flavors of the cheese deep down as well as enhanced and brought new flavors to the table. We had a non-biased food enthusiast try this dish to give it an accurate rating. Mr. Hallahan smacked down on this mac and cheese and gave it a solid 8.2/10.
The last thing made this week was spaghetti, meatballs, and garlic bread. The noodles of the spaghetti were cooked well. They were a little harder than you want a noodle to be, but that’s no problem at all. The meatballs turned out a little bouncy, the texture was a bit off. We put Delgrosso’s cheese and garlic sauce on this dish and it really brought everything together nicely. To end it off, the garlic bread was nice and simple. The ratio of garlic, butter, and cheese was perfect. Mr. Hallahan seemed to love this dish and gave his finest compliments to the chefs. He gave this dish a final rating of 9.1/10, one of the highest this year.
