Wednesday night, the Lady Blue Devils hosted Bellefonte for Senior Night and won 54-26. Bellwood improves their record to (8-4) with the win and will travel to Clearfield this Friday.
The Lady Blue Devils led by a few points after the first, but got a huge lead in the second quarter. Bellwood outscored Bellefonte 20-4 in the second quarter giving them a 33-13 lead at halftime.
B-A was led in scoring by Lily Gerwert with 16 points and Jenna Norton with 11 points. Leigha Clapper also added three 3’s to give her 9 points.
Bellwood held onto their big lead in the second half and secured a 28 point blowout win.
Prior to the game the team honored Chloe Hammond, Lainey Quick, Olivia Hess, and Annie Bardell for Senior recognition. once the ball was tipped, B-A’s seniors went to work contributing 18 of the Lady Devils’ points, including 8 from Hammond.
“These four seniors have dedicated tremendous amounts of time and effort over their basketball careers here at Bellwood. They are a group you can count on to show up and lead. They are not only a great group of basketball players but individual people as well. They have formed relationships here that have made an impact. They excel in the classroom and contribute to their school community immensely. I am proud of them and very much looking forward to watching their continued success in all that they set out to do,” said Coach Longo-McGarvey.
