This week in home economics, some students made Mexican street corn. Mexican street corn is just corn smothered in a sauce made with mayo, sour cream, cheese, and cilantro. It was then topped with a bit of chili powder. Students also made salads with homemade dressings and croutons.
I thought the Mexican street corn was a pretty good dish. I liked the sauce that the corn was in; however, the ratios of corn to other ingredients were way off. This caused most students to not like it and pass their bowls of Mexican street corn to me. I ended up eating four bowls of it, which I would not recommend. Overall, I would give the corn a 5.5/10.
The salads turned out really good, not that it’s hard to make a salad or anything though. Some different dressings that students made were Italian, French, Russian, ranch, and Raising Cane’s sauce. They all turned out decent, except the ranch was pretty darn thick. There was a variety of toppings for the salads including French fries and croutons that the students made. The croutons were beautifully seasoned with the perfect amount of crisp. Overall, the salads get a solid 7.6/10.
