Bellwood-Antis has had many student teachers this year, and one of the many is Mr. Naylor’s 9th grade student teacher, Mr. Bullock, who started student teaching at Bellwood in October.
Mr. Bullock attends Penn State University and was a student at Greenwood School District in Millerstown, which, he said, is quite a drive from Bellwood. He hopes to start teaching at his old school when he completes student teaching.
Although he doesn’t know what grade he wants to teach yet, he said that, “Each grade level has it’s pros and cons.” As of now he is teaching Mr. Naylor’s ninth grade classes, and has recently added two 12th grade courses, including CHS debate.
Mr. Bullock said he wanted to start teaching because one of his old teachers made a huge impact on his life and heĀ wanted to do the same.
“I love interacting with students and making a difference in someone’s life,” he said.
If he wasn’t able to teach, Mr. Bullock said he would want to get into computer science or story writing for movies, shows, or even video games.
One of the difficulties he faces is when his lesson plans don’t go as intended, and sometimes the students don’t want to follow them.
Despite all of that, Mr. Bullock said he loves Bellwood and has been enjoying it.
“All of the students are awesome and the teachers are super nice and helpful,” he said.
Mr. Bullock will be concluding his student teaching in May.
