The famous three-striped shoes are regaining popularity. How do we feel about the rise of Adidas Sambas?
Social media influenced the comeback of these unforgettable shoes. However, it’s not just the cliche of them that makes them so likeable; it’s also the price that induces so many buys.
With Adidas, there’s an idea of picking four types of styles when choosing your shoe; style, performance, neos, or originals. Consumers adore the cliques that Adidas has to offer as they try to keep up with ‘fast-fashion’ to increase their brands’ reputation by giving the people what they want.
Style: The style of the Sambas automatically bring a swarm of colors, sizes, and textures whenever choosing the shoe. There is a range of 28 colors and that’s including combinations of shades and colors.
In 2016 the fascination over the shoe was at it’s peak before it began trending again this year. The three black stripes on white shoes lured consumers even though the average price was $150, after 2015’s average price was $89.91. Currently a pair of Sambas can rage $99 to $110 on average, with high-end variations rising to as much as $180. So, the price might not be the answer.
The increase of this trend might be due to the ability of limitless number of combinations that Adidas has to offer. The monochromatic color schemes makes a classic silhouette to wear with either a minimalistic or over-the-top outfit. Despite the aesthetic they show off, they originally were used for soccer shoes.
In 1949, Adi Dassler had released the soccer shoe within the same year that Adidas established their brand. Dassler started his debut due to the World Cup being just around the corner; he thought would be a perfect way to spread the new trend.
The price of the original shoe cannot be pinpointed, but they would have been far less than the Sambas of 2024.
Overall, there has to be an important reason if the popularity of a shoe increases every other year. Similar to the Classic Air Jordan Brand, this fashion never goes out of style.
