Being good at one sport is a feat in itself. However, being good at four is an even better accomplishment.
Playing basketball, football, soccer, and baseball all at the same time is a testament to an athlete’s dedication and athletic ability. For this reason, this week’s BluePrint’s athlete of the week is Nico Pullara.
Nico is a 6th grader at Bellwood-Antis, and he spends his free time playing basketball, football, soccer and baseball. Out of the four aforementioned sports, Nico’s favorite is soccer. In fact, his favorite sports memory comes from the soccer pitch, when he scored the game winning field goal for his travel team in the championship. Nico plays CDM in soccer, which is a center defensive mid.
His coach, Alex Bartlett, has watched Nico grow and thrive.
“Nico is an extremely hard worker,” said Bartlett. “He plays multiple sports and excels in them. I am really proud of him and how mature he has become over the past couple of years.”
Despite enjoying all four sports, whenever Nico makes it into high school, he plans on playing soccer and basketball.
On the football field Nico is a wide receiver and a defensive back. He uses his speed and agility to his advantage to allow him to be one step ahead of the opponent. In basketball, Nico plays shooting guard. Finally, he is a center fielder in baseball.
Nico’s biggest influence on his sporting career are his parents and his grandpa. His father Joe played rugby at Penn State and his mother Lindsay runs a local dance studio in Tyrone called Dance Fusion. So Nico is no stranger to competition.
When Nico grows up he wants to become a sports analyst.
