During each school, year B-A has countdowns to many events with energetic anticipation, but the countdown to March has been striking for the musical theatre department.
This year the music department will be showcasing a fictional journey of Shrek on March 27, 28 and 29.
Throughout the story there’s a theme to look at somebody without judgement. David-Lindsay Abaire created the musical in humanity.
The musical is an up-roaring supplemental, emphasizing awareness on misunderstood stereotypes.
”I think we’ll put on a great show; one that the audience will like,” music director Mr. David Logue states.
The play features eager moments and endless choreography.
“It’s super a super fun musical, and I love everyone involved,” cast member Lily Burns says “It’s like everyone is family.”
Members of the Shrek cast and crew are currently practicing three to four times each week for about three hours per session. As showtime gets closer, the frequency of practices will increase to six days per week.
The cast continues to motivate each other to come together and fill stress with laughter and memories. Every part of the cast incorporates a way of inclusivity, which is key to inspiring underclassmen to join.
Shrek will also include an orchestra pit directed by band director Mr. Patrick Sachse to add musical elements, and not technological innovations.
The fairy tale tells the story of and ogre who grows up alone, makes friends with a donkey, and ultimately meets the love of his life- Fiona.
After being mocked and insulted his whole life, the little ogre had left his home at seven years old to the isolation of a swamp.
One day he crossed paths with an eventual friend: the donkey. Donkey helps break down Shrek’s walls while accompanying him on a quest that results in love for both characters.
