After an tough season for the Bellwood-Antis boys basketball team, there was a bright spot: the growth and contribution of young, returning underclassmen. Although this season may not have gone as desired, the future is bright for the boys team.
One of these underclassmen is sophomore Curtis Shedlock. He finished this season averaging 5.4 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 1.2 APG, and 1.4 SPG. Curtis played well in the time that he got on the court, and was no doubt a big contributor to the team this season.
For this reason, Curtis Sherlock is this week’s BluePrint Athlete of the Week.
Curtis is both a point and shooting guard for the varsity boys basketball team.
Coming into this season there was a lot of uncertainty around what the rotation would look like for the team. However, through hard work and commitment Curtis was able to find himself in a pivotal role. With all of the seniors leaving from last season, Curtis knew he would have to step it up big time this year, and he did.
From a season for the Blue Devils that was not good in terms of wins and losses, Curtis still made good memories.
“Beating Philipsburg-Osceola and the bus ride home was my favorite memory from this season,” he said when asked what his favorite memory was from this season.
Curtis is not only a star on the basketball court, however; he also shines on both the football field and on the baseball diamond. Curtis is a linebacker and slot back for football team where he had a breakout year. The highlight of his season this year would have to be picking off Tyrone’s Ashton Walk en route to a Backyard Brawl victory.
On the diamond, Curtis is a pitcher and an outfielder for the varsity team. Last season, he led the team in earned runs allowed (ERA) and had a record of 3-0 when he was on the bump.
More than just play three sports,, he excels at all of them. When asked about how he manages three sports while still being a student, Curtis said, “I have to be diligent with my time to balance school work with practices.”
After high school Curtis plans and attending a four year college to get a degree. As of right now, Curtis does not plan to continue his sporting career collegiately.
