Bellwood-Antis played in the semi-finals of the District 6 playoffs against the Bishop McCort Crushers on Monday. B-A lost by a large margin, with a final score of 58-35.
In the first half of the game, it was a close contest. The score at halftime was 25-18, McCort in the lead. It wasn’t until the third quarter where the score started to become more lopsided. The Crushers outscored Bellwood-Antis 21-4 in the third, including a 15-0 run later in the quarter. This gave them a lead of 24 points going into the last period.
For the Lady Blue Devils, their leading scorer was senior Jenna Norton. Norton had 13 points on the night, which included her knocking down two three-pointers.
On the other side, Bishop McCort had no issues scoring the ball. Two players, sophomore Zoey Ferguson and junior Emma Preuss, were tied for the leading scorer in the game. Both of them finished the game with 14 points.
B-A is now eliminated from the District 6 2A playoffs. In order to make it to state playoffs, they will have to win their next two games. They will play away against Southern Huntingdon on Thursday for the first round of states.
“We are going to use this loss as motivation for our upcoming games,” senior Leigha Clapper said.
The game against Southern Huntingdon will start at 7.
