The Bellwood Antis’ music department will perform Shrek the musical on March 27, 28, and 29. The BluePrint will be highlighting cast and crew members in the days leading up to the raising of the curtains.
The play is based on the hit movie Shrek, following the tale of the ogre Shrek, who goes on a life-changing journey alongside a wise-cracking donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue.
The play is directed by Molly Burns. Mr. Logue is the music director, while Mr. Sachse is the orchestra director.

Today we focus on Tanner Swagger, who plays Big Bad Wolf!
Director Molly Burns said the addition of Tanner to the cast was “a nice surprise this year!”
“Although a senior, he’s a first-time performer and he’s going to leave the audience rolling with laughter!” she said. “There always seems to be that one senior who finally decides to join, but I wish he would’ve auditioned years ago. This year, he’s new to theater, loving it, and having a blast… so don’t wait until your senior year! We will miss you next year Tanner!”
BluePrint: What role do you play in the musical?
Tanner: I play the big bad wolf.
BluePrint: How long have you been in the musical?
Tanner: This is my first year being in the musical.
BluePrint: What are you looking most forward to?
Tanner: I’m looking forward to seeing the final product. Everyone really fits their role.
BluePrint: What made you want to join the musical?
Tanner: Jacob promised me free food.
BluePrint: Did you enjoy Shrek before the musical?
Tanner: I was a massive Shrek diehard in middle school.BluePrint:
Who is your favorite character in the musical and why?
Tanner: Lord Farquaad. Derek is really funny and fits him well.
BluePrint: What is your biggest challenge with the musical?
Tanner: Learning how to dance, I have very poor coordination.
BluePrint: What is the best thing about being in the musical?
Tanner: Seeing everyone improve with their acting, makes for a very fun time.
BluePrint: Who helped you the most throughout getting the musical set up?
Tanner: Molly is really good at telling you how to improve.
BluePrint: What would you tell people who are interested in joining the musical?
Tanner: It’s a very rewarding experience.
