The Bellwood-Antis Blue Devil baseball team reigned in their game against Saint Joseph’s Monday thanks to a strong showing by a sophomore pitcher.

Sophomore Nevin Wood finished with a two-hitter while striking out eight and walking two.  He was the winning pitcher.

The Blue Devils opened up a scoreless pitching battle with Saint Joseph’s by scoring three in the sixth and four in the seventh to earn their 7-1 win at Saint Joseph’s first-ever home game at the Shaner Baseball Complex.

Neither team scored until the sixth inning. The Blue Devils plated three runs in the sixth inning and then got their last four in the seventh inning.

Chad Luensmann and Sawyer Kline had two hits each.

Randy Zitterbart hit a triple and Ian McFarland hit a double. Zach Mock also hit a double.

The Blue Devils had 4 RBI’s: 2 from Kline and one from each Nevin Wood and Luensmann.

The baseball teams record is now 12-3.
