Athlete of the Week: Laycee Clark

Senior Laycee Clark has been a starting on the infield for 3 years.

Last year she was a key player to help the girls get to states. She good with a bat and the glove.

“She’s a real team player and she always strives to do her best at every single game” teammate Myranda Mamat.

Laycee has been apart of the softball team all throughout high school and is finishing up her senior season.

For these reasons Clark is the BluePrint’s athlete of the week.

How did you get involved with softball?

Laycee: I got involved with the little league softball program when my parents wouldn’t let me play little league baseball.

What’s the best part of softball to you?

Laycee: The best part of softball is being around such great teammates and achieving the level of success we have.

What positon do you play?

Laycee: Shortstop.

How did you improve as an individual from last year?

Laycee: I put in a lot of work during the summer to improve my hitting and fielding.

How do you predict the rest of the season will go?

Laycee: I think we will keep hitting well and improving as a team. Were definitely making playoffs and hopefully getting back to states.

Since it’s your senior year what do you wish to accomplish that maybe you didn’t in previous years?

Laycee: I would like to win states for triple A.

Do you plan on continuing softball into your college career?

Laycee: I do plan to play at Penn College next year.
