One group of BluePrint seniors can’t remember exactly where the idea for the format of their award-winning podcast came from, but they know for sure it’s all working out.
The Blueprint’s “4th and 3” podcast last week received significant recognition, earning the title of the best podcast in Pennsylvania by the Pa. Press Club.
“Our different personalities bring it all together. Jake is the quiet guy, Zach is the silly guy, and Cayden and I are analytical,” said Matthew Berkowitz, one of the four senior sports writers from the BluePrint who produces the podcast.
Cayden Pellegrine, Zachary Gonzalez, and Jake Baker are the other participants in the podcast, which was also awarded last week by the Keystone Press Awards, taking second place in the podcasting category.
“I’m really proud of the guys for taking the initiative to both come up with cool podcast ideas and then execute it by doing their own video and production. Obviously, people people like it because it has been awarded twice already this year,” said Mr. Naylor, advisor of the BluePrint. “They really understand the podcast format and have made a show that’s lively and unique.”
The BluePrint had several other winning entries in the Pa. Press Club contest.
Taking third place in the News Story category was “Bellwood-Antis arson coverage” by Tanner Swogger, Berkowitz, Pellegrine, and Gonzalez. The story was about the fire set in the Bellwood-Antis wrestling room last December, just days before Christmas.
Some other honorable mentions included Sports Story “B-A students shine at Elks’ Hoop Shoot” by Pellegrine and Gonzalezsto. The story describes a third grader, Sadie Conlon, and seventh grader, Connor Gray, advancing to states with first place finish at Districts. Another honorable mention in the News category was “B-A prepares for dangerous emergency” by Cameron Gallagher.
