Bellwood-Antis High School’s guidance office is putting together a program where students and parents can come and learn how to get financial help for college. The first one, titled “Confused About Paying For College,” is Monday, October 10 from 6:00 to 7:00pm in the high school library. Mr. David Pearlman, the director of financial aid for Penn State Altoona, will be here to explain financial aid and answer questions about completing the FAFSA form. This form is mandatory if you plan to apply for student loans or receive grant money for college.

There have been changes to the financial aid process.

— Mrs. Butler

The other financial aid night is titled “FAFSA Completion.” It is held October 19 and November 7 in room 223 from 5:30 -7:00pm. The financial aid office will hold two sessions to assist in completing and filling out the 2017-2018 free application for federal student aid(FAFSA). If you are uneasy about how to complete the FAFSA online please plan to attend. A representative from PHEAA will be on hand to answer questions as well. Apply for an FS AID before attending at fsaid.ed.gov. Both student and parent (if applicable) need to apply for an FS AID to sign the FSFSA electronically. Student and parents must use different email addresses when creating the FS AID.

When asked why is it important to go, Ms. Butler said that “There have been changes to the financial aid process and you can learn all of the different resources to get money to go to college .”
