Charleigh Garcia brought home a couple national championship rings from cheer nationals in April.

A Myers Elementary student reached the highest levels of competitive success last month.

Fourth-grader Charleigh Garcia and her all-star cheerleading teammates from a small gym in Hollidaysburg took first place at cheer nationals in Florida.

Charleigh is a part of the Volition Cheer All-Stars gym. Her team performed in Orlando at the Open Championship on April 27 and 28. She is also a student in Mrs. Leah Frederick’s class at Myers.

Volition took two teams to nationals: Junior Level 1 and Junior Level 2.

Junior level 1 was able to take first place and were the level champions. For their win, team members received a ring, a jacket and a banner.

For her part, Charleigh relied on her faith and the hard work she and her teammates had put in.

“I prayed to God and I hoped he would answer my prayers to win,” Charleigh said.

Junior level 2 was able to take second place at the competition.

Ultimately, the team was named Grand Champions because it received the highest score of any group competing in levels 1 through 6.

It was quite the accomplishment for a team from a small gym in Central PA.

“Her gym is very small. For them to win all of this from Duncansville, PA the whole way in Florida against other states and even countries is huge!” Charleigh’s mother Kayla said.

Charleigh is also a softball player, and in her spare time she enjoys making homemade popsicles for her dogs.

Congratulations and good luck with the rest of your cheer career Charleigh!
