BAMS Tech Club Kids Win Recycling Video Competition

“The Monster Trash” Earns First Place Honors

The Bellwood-Antis Middle School Tech Club recently produced, entered and won a recycling video competition sponsored by the Intermunicipal Relations Committee of Blair County.

This year was the second time in as many attempts that the Tech Kids took home first place honors. The winner was announced on Saturday, April 26, 2014 during Earth Day activities at the Logan Valley Mall. Not only did the students earn a very cool plaque and an ice cream party, but their winning video will be entered into the State Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania Film Fest Contest for a chance to win a cash prize. In addition, the submission will be used in future public outreach and education programs.

This recycling video includes a written script and various scenes, including some that involved stop animation.

When asked about the victory, Aubree Reiter stated, “I am very proud that the Tech Club won the video competition because I think our video really explained the point of the recycling contest.”

Kermit Foor added, “I think that out of all of the videos we made, this one was the best one yet. We worked for many hours during and after school to make this video. Without the help of Ms. Forshey and Mr. Trexler, it would not have been possible.”

Congratulations to Aubree, Kermit and the other Tech Club students who stayed after school for long hours to prepare for the contest. These students include Alex Hale, Quintin Nelson, Blake Johnston, and Corey Johnston.
