ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kamryn Mercer

Kamryn Mercer is better than ever on the track as a senior.

“Hanging out and competing with friends” is the best part about sports for Kamryn, who runs track and also plays volleyball.

Kamryn’s favorite part about track is “being able compete as a team and being challenged to do better every time.”

She participates in the long jump, triple jump, and also the high jump. Kamryn loves to jump and work with her teammates.

Kamryn’s favorite jump was when she got 5’0” at the high jump because it “was so close to the top record.”

Kamryn’s favorite memory she has from track is “all the times that my friends and I would struggle to run our two warm up laps in practice and laugh, and completing in Igloo meets.”

She plans to attend Point Park University after competition of high school. There, she hopes to run track and participate in the high jump.

Kamryn’s personal-bests in track are impressive. She has jumped 15-5 in the long jump, 31-3 in the triple jump, and 5-0 in the high jump.

Kamryn also plays volleyball. Her favorite part about playing is “hanging out with my friends on and off the court.”

Kamryn’s favorite moment is “singing with her teammates as loud as they can on the bus rides.”
