Alex Frederick is headed to St. Vincent College.

On Tuesday, Bellwood-Antis senior Alex Frederick committed to play football next year at St. Vincent College in Latrobe.

Frederick was a three-year letter-winner for the Blue Devil football team who was second for B-A in rushing last season, while tying for the team lead in touchdowns.

“I am really happy with Alex signing to St. Vincent. We think he will make an impact athletically and academically. I’m proud he is going to the next level,” said Coach Nick Lovrich.

What made you want to continue playing football in college?

I decided to continue my football career because I find it more than just a game that you would play in high school. It became a passionate love of mine.

How did you get connected with St. Vincent?

I got called out of class to go to the guidance office and met with Coach Clawson, St. Vincent’s head football coach, in the conference room with a couple of my teammates.

What position do you think you will be playing?

I would be playing as a running-back.

In what areas do you feel you need to improve the most to succeed on the next level?

Personally, I feel I should improve on how I see the field, whether its finding the correct hole to run through or when to bounce it outside to run up the sideline. Also, I need to improve on my speed.

How has playing for Bellwood prepared you to make this transition?

Coach Lovrich taught me to never give up when I faced adversity and to play every play like its your last. He really pushed me to be the greatest player that he knew I could be and always believed in me. I really enjoyed having him as my coach.
