The Bellwood-Antis track and field team traveled to Saint Francis University on Tuesday for the Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference championships. This meet included all schools that are in the LHAC, which totaled to 22 teams.
The B-A boys and girls team each had one winner for the meet.
Senior Cayden Pellegrine won shot put with his throw of 44-2, beating out second place my two inches. Pellegrine also placed seventh in javelin with a distance of 146-9. Another winner for Bellwood-Antis was sophomore Emma Taneyhill, who got first place in discus. Taneyhill threw for a distance of 115-0.
“I am feeling confident coming out of the LHAC meet,” Pellegrine said. “It was a very large meet, so winning an event really means a lot to me and the team.”
Other placements for the boys were:
- Cameron Nelson, 8th in the 110m hurdles
- Holden Schreier, 3rd in the 400m dash
- Jayce Quick, 3rd in the shot put and 4th in the discus
- Braylon Litzinger, 8th in the triple jump
The boys 4x400m and the 4x800m relay teams both placed. The 4×4 team placed fifth with their time of 3:39.49. The 4×8 team got sixth place, finishing with a time of 8:58.11.
For the girls, other placements include:
- Ella Cherry, 5th in the 100m dash, 7th in the 200m dash, 4th in the long jump, 2nd in the triple jump
- Chloe Stoltzfus, 8th in the 100m hurdles, 8th in the 300m hurdles
- Blake Pennington, 7th in the 1600m
- Avah Hassler, 4th in the 400m dash, 6th in the high jump
- Avey Powers, 3rd in the long jump
- Olivia Rishel, 3rd in the pole vault
- Ava Worthing, 5th in the pole vault
The relays that placed for the B-A girls were the 4x100m relay and the 4x800m relay. the 4×1 team placed seventh with their time of 52.56. The 4×8 team finished in sixth place, running a time of 10:14.85.
The next event coming up for Bellwood-Antis is the District 6 meet. Districts lasts two days, Tuesday the 13th and Wednesday the 14th. Good luck to those competing!
