ARTIST OF THE WEEK: Raela Zuiker
Roaela Zuiker is already having a phenomenal senior year in the music department and she’s hoping it can continue.
Just last week, Raela was one of two Bellwood-Antis musicians to qualify for District 6 band.
For her accomplishments, Raela was nominated by music teacher Ms. Beth Hull for artist of the week.
Raela first started her music career in 4th grade when she first started playing clarinet in band.
“I wanted to make new friends and try out something new. I played a ton of sports when I was younger, and I wanted to settle down and do something calmer. My mom and grandma both played the clarinet and my sister played alto saxophone, so I wanted to be like them,” Raela said
Raela hopes that this year she can make Regional Band and District Jazz Band. She wants t0 have a successful audition to get into college for music education.
Despite all she has achieved as an individual, Raela feels the relationships she has formed are the most important part of her journey in band.
“The people. They really are a big part of the whole experience,” says Raela
Raela is also involved in Aevidum, Renaissance Club, Jazz Band, and Marching Band.
