On Saturday, the Lady Blue Devils basketball team traveled to Johnstown to take on the number one ranked team in the District 6 2A  rankings, Bishop McCort.

Bellwood came out of the gate hot and led the game at halftime 29-25.  The Lady Devils were not able to maintain their first half success, got outscored in the third quarter 22-13, and ended the game  losing 63-52.

Even with the loss there was still a bright spot for the Devils. Freshmen Leigha Clapper and junior Aly Partner scored 11 points to lead B-A. Senior Jaidyn McCracken had a very efficient night scoring nine points on 4/5 shooting.

With this loss, the girl’s team fell to 15-3 and move to fourth in the playoff standings. With the out of conference loss, the Lady Devils remain undefeated in ICC North play with a perfect 9-0 record and sit in first place.

Lady Devils takes on West Branch

Coming off the loss against McCort, the girl’s basketball team looked to bounce back when they traveled to Morrisdale to take on the West Branch Warriors on Monday. Bounce back they did, as the Lady Devils dominated the Warriors with a 50-point victory of 73-21.

Junior Chelsea McCaulsky had a bounce-back game, scoring a game high 16 points. Clapper continued to play a crucial role in the high-powered Devil offense, adding in 13 points of her own, including 3 three pointers.

The girls basketball’s next game will be on Wednesday when they go on the road to take on the Williamsburg Blue Pirates.
