On Friday October 21, Myers Elementary students traveled from Martin Street  to Excelsior Fire Department for a combined fire prevention program with Pinecroft Fire Dept.

At the first stop, students learned about safe exits of their homes, as well as smoke detectors.  The next stop they had was in the truck bay. Here they learned about fire gear, stop, drop, and roll, and even had the chance to see their teachers in firefighting gear.

In both rooms, the students learned the importance of 911.

Finally, students headed outside to get a tour of Quint 22 and Engine Rescue 23 to familiarize with  the fire trucks and to learn about what equipment is used.
