Last week, sophomore Jalynn Partner learned that she had won the BASICS/Rotary Essay Contest Scholarship.

Partner won a $250 scholarship and will be awarded with the check on June 8 at a recognition breakfast at the Blair County Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club at the Casino in Lakemont.

Partner’s essay was for the Blair County career fair she attended recently with other the sophomores from Bellwood-Antis, and her essay was about what she learned at the career fair and her future career plans.

Partner, who attends the GACTC studying graphic design, said writing comes easy to her.

“Since I love writing my own stories,” Partner said, “I decided to write the essay so I could talk more about the career choices I’m interested in.”

Every student was required to write an essay about the career fair, but Partner chose to write one for a scholarship.

“I wanted to write the essay so I could not only get a good grade from it, but so I had a chance to win a scholarship that can really help me for college,” she said.

Congratulations Jalynn on winning the essay scholarship contest!
