This week’s athlete of the week is junior, Addalyn Turek. Addy is a part of the volleyball team and is having herself a good season.
Addy first started playing volleyball when she was in 4th grade. She has stuck with it ever sense and is now succeeding at the varsity level. She also plays on the basketball team and runs track in the spring.
With the move from the ICC to the LHAC, there was some uncertainty about how the volleyball team would do in the new, more competitive conference. However, the Lady Devils have been doing well, with a big part of it thanks to the play of Addy.
“I think that so far our team is competing very well in our new conference,” she said.
Addy is leading the team this year in kills (105) and blocks (53). Standing nearly 6 feet tall, she is strong around the net. Earlier this week, in a loss to Penns Valley, Addy had 13 kills and 4 blocks.
Addy’s hopes for the team are to make a name for themselves in their new conference, and they already have, with a solid record of 6-4. The Lady Devils also recently won a their own tournament hosted at Bellwood-Antis.
The other goal Addy has for the team is to make it further in the playoffs than they did last year when they won their quarterfinal game and made it to the District 6 semifinals where they lost.
Congratulations to Addy Turek on being the athlete of the week.
