This weeks Athlete of the Week is sophomore receiver Colin Gibbons.

Colin has been a standout on the field playing on both sides of the ball this season for the Blue Devils. He is leading the team in receiving yards with 153 on 10 receptions, averaging 15.3 yards a reception. He also has 34 yards on punt returns with 2 attempts and 16 rushing yards on 5 carries.

On defense Colin has been a very solid cornerback for the team so far.

Colin’s main goal for the rest of the season is to preform as part of a team and not just as an individual player.

“The better we get as a team, the better chance we have of winning,” he said.

Colin attributes his success to himself, but also to everyone around him.

“I worked hard to get where I am today as an athlete. I put a lot of time in on my own, but I truly wouldn’t be in the situation I am in if I wasn’t given the opportunity that was given to me by my family, coaches, and all my teammates,” Colin said.

Colin has put in countless hours of offseason work to prepare for this season.

“You have to put the work in to get the reward out,” he said.

Bellwood made the switch to the LHAC this season, where the competition is much tougher. When asked about the transition, Collin said it has been a bit of a slow start for the 0-3 Devils.

“We are a young team,” Colin said. “We will put everything together, and we will put some wins on the board.”

Congratulations to Collin on being Athlete of the Week, and good luck on the rest of your season.
