Tuesday night, the Blue Devils hosted Hollidaysburg in the first boy’s basketball game of the season. The Tigers came out on top 65-38 as the Bellwood offense couldn’t get in a rhythm.
Bellwood was able to keep the game close in the first only trailing by 8 after the first quarter.
Hollidaysburg came out the gates hot to start the second quarter and outscored Bellwood 18-3 in the period.
The Blue Devils trailed 39-16 at halftime.
The Bellwood offense struggled all night with the relentless Tiger defense. One Bellwood player was able to shine however; Senior Anthony Caracciolo scored 22 points and made 5 three pointers.
Bellwood scored 15 points in the third quarter, but the deficit was to big by this time to make a run.
The Blue Devils were outsized by Hollidaysburg, which led to problems on defense all game.
Bellwood was down by 19 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tigers held onto their big lead and ran the clock down giving, Bellwood a loss in the season opener.
The Blue Devils next game is at home on Friday against Somerset.
