Thursday night, the boy’s basketball team traveled to Philipsburg to take on the Mounties.
Bellwood won 40-32 against a winless Philipsburg-Osceola team, avenging their loss against Huntingdon earlier in the week. This win gives the Blue Devils a 2-2 record.
Bellwood jumped out to a 16-9 lead after the first quarter. Senior Conner Bardell led the Blue Devils with 12 points and drained two threes in the first quarter to get the momentum going for Bellwood.
The Blue Devils outscored the Mounties 10-9 in the second quarter of action and held a 26-18 lead heading into halftime.
Bellwood had a very balanced offensive attack, with six players scoring at least 4 points. Senior Anthony Caracciolo was another key player as he was the second Blue Devil in double digits with 10 points.
Bellwood matched P-O’s scoring in the second half with fourteen points.
The Blue Devils played to maintain the lead in the third and fourth quarter and left Philipsburg with a win.
The boy’s travel to Penns Valley on Thursday to take on the Rams, who have an 0-5 record.
