Every year, National Oklahoma City Bombing Commemoration Day on April 19th, remembers those who were killed in the Oklahoma City Bombing on April 19th, 1995.
The Oklahoma City bombing was a terrorist bomb attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City.
The bombing was one of the most destructive acts of terrorism on America until the September 11, 2001, attacks.
The blast claimed the lives of 168 people, including 19 children under the age of 6, and injured more than 680 people.
The attack happened at precisely 9:02 am., where a guy named Timothy McVeigh had a truck with a powerful bomb full of deadly chemicals. Within moments, the surrounding area looked like a warzone a third of the building has fallen. There was dozens of cars incinerated and more than 300 nearby buildings were damaged or destroyed.
McVeigh was later found and captured after finding a vehicle indetification number of his truck.
Today serves a day of remembrance for those who perished and for those who were injured, and a day to honor those who have served and volunteered as part of the emergency response.
