What began as a way to have fun with friends has grown into real passion for a B-A freshman.
This week’s Artist of the week is Max Miller. He has been playing in the percussion section for around seven years since fourth grade. He started to play an instrument as more as a social activity, but then he started to explore it and get into band.
What inspired him was when he watched rock bands.
“As a band student, take time to expose yourself to new types of music. Broadening your horizons is a great way of learning,” said Max.
Max hopes to inspire others to engage in to the music environment. He gets frustrated at first when performing in front of a crowd, but having thousands of eyes on him sets easier with time.
He plans to just play an instrument and playing in front of a crowd until the day he graduates.
“Max is a hard worker! It’s great to have reliable students like Max,” said Mr. Sachse.
Outside of band, Max got himself into other sports over the years, like soccer and basketball, but he mostly likes music as his main hobby. Traveling is an interest he would love to experience more of.
If he could learn any song it would be Caravan from the movie “Whiplash.” He said it would also be great to play the difficult. To Mr. Sachse, Max is a model band student.
“He has great attendance, loves participating in afterschool groups, and practices a ton,” Mr. Sachse said.
