Teacher Feature: Mr. Crowell

Yearbook

Mr. Crowell teaches Industrial Arts, Driver’s Education, and coaches football.

This month’s teacher feature is Mr.Crowell.  Mr. Crowell is the shop teacher for the high school and also teaches drivers education.  Mr. Crowell isn’t just a teacher at Bellwood-Antis; he is also the special teams coach for our varsity football team.  We decided to get to know Mr. Crowell a little better.

Blueprint: How long have you been teaching?

Mr. Crowell: I’ve been teaching for twenty-eight years.

Blueprint: Which do you like more, coaching or teaching?

Mr. Crowell: Coaching and teaching are really one in the same.  Teaching takes place in the classroom and coaching is teaching that takes place out on the field.  I would have to say that I like them both equally.

Blueprint: What is your favorite about teaching?

Mr. Crowell: My favorite part of teaching is the sense of accomplishment that students have on their faces when they successfully complete a project in one of my classes.

Blueprint: Why did you want to be a shop teacher?

Mr. Crowell: My father had a wood shop when I was growing up.  So I was exposed to woodworking at an early age.  The Industrial Arts classes that I had when I was in school were my favorite classes.  Those are probably two of the main reasons that I chose Industrial Arts/Tech Ed. as my major.  I am glad that I did, because I do truely enjoy my job.

Blueprint: Where did you attend high school and college?

Mr. Crowell: I attended Cambria Heights High School and went to college at California University of Pennsylvania

Blueprint: Did you have another job before coming to Bellwood-Antis High School?

Mr. Crowell: No, I was hired at Bellwood right out of college.
