National Hugging Day
Celebrated ever year on the 21st of January, National Hugging Day is a wonderful day that inspires kindness, warmth, and love into the hearts of those who choose to involve themselves on such a sweet day.
Thanks to Drake and Josh the notorious line, “Hug me brotha!” has been made famous amongst all ages.
What is great about hugs is that they are not just limited to couples, but rather hugs can be given or received by anyone, anywhere, at any given moment in time. Hugs are a way to say “I love you,” or “It’ll be alright,” without having to say anything at all.
National Hugging Day was created by Rev. Kevin Zaborney in 1986 and is a copyrighted holiday.
While most hugs are warm, fuzzy, and appreciated by most, there are a few times where hugs can be awkward, uncomfortable, and just cold. To see examples of those uncomfortable situations we’ve all been in, click here.
While the exact origin of hugging is unknown, hugging is an international gesture among the world’s culture that communicates humankind’s want to be physically together in a way that exceeds language.
Whatever your personal preference of hug, enjoy every moment and spread the love on National Hugging Day!
