Prom is right around the corner!

It’s all about prom…

The date and time has been set. Prom is right around the corner. It will held April 30th from 6:30-10 P.M. at the Penn State Discovery Center in Altoona.

There are so many thing to prepare. If you’re a girl you need shoes, makeup, a car you’re going in, where you’re going to eat, schedule a hair appointment, dinner reservations, working schedules with group, but the most important things are finding that perfect dress and finding that perfect date.

Finding a dress could take weeks.

When prom dress shopping, girls at Bellwood-Antis say that they try on between two and five dresses.

You see a picture of one you love in a magazine but when you get to a store your heart becomes crushed. Where do girls go to find that perfect dress? There’s The Fashion Exchange, Pine Ridge Bridal, JCPennys, Diamond Bridal, Diamond & Lace, and as well a number of online stores. Senior Kala Wooten tried on dresses in the store then ordered the one she wanted online. Finding that perfect dress can be stressful.

Paige Dinges knows the stresses of finding that perfect dress.

“It’s stressful because you don’t want the same dress as someone else but you also want to find the dress you love,” said Paige who shopped at Pine Ridge.  “I only tried on four dresses and I felt like that wasn’t enough when I was looking.”

Paige brings up another problem with finding a perfect dress. It’s one of a girl’s biggest prom-mares, (nightmares of prom) to show up to prom and there’s a girl with the same exact dress because then it comes into a who-wore-it-better competition.

For girls, finding a date can also be very stressful. First, there’s the fear of being denied.

“It’s extremely hard to find a date when you are new to school and no one really knows you,” new junior student Kalyn Sines said.

Deciding what the guy is going to wear, but there are also date problems.  Your prom date could ignore you, step on your dress, or even spill his drink on you.

How important is a date to the prom? To some it is a necessity and causes stress.  Then there are the people who could care less and just go with their friends or by themselves.   No matter who you go with or even if you go by yourself you are going to have fun.

Senior Angela Young quoted, “Guys care more than girls because they feel like they need one and girls can just go with their friends.”

Nathan Davis says its very important to have a date to Prom because you don’t want to show up in a nice tux by yourself.

Prom for guys isn’t as stressful for the girl.  All the guy has to do according to Senior Luke Hollingshead is dress to match his date.  They have to get a tux, dress shoes which most guys already have, and the corsage.  The most stressful thing for a guy is the money.

“We can easily drop $300 on Prom,” said senior Cory Parson.

Registration for the prom will begin in April and guest forms are now available by Mrs. Franks room.
