Nail-biter is an understatement; Monday night’s game against Tyrone had fans on the edge of their seat. With a final score of 46-49, Bellwood, it was anybody’s game till the buzzer.
Early Bellwood kept it within 10 points of Tyrone, but just couldn’t get their shots to land. However, they must have found it in the third quarter, scoring almost double over the previous quarters. By the fourth, it was getting close. For every shot Bellwood landed, Tyrone responded with one of their own. Â Bellwood’s Lilly Gerwert scored the last points in a free throw to win by three points.
In Addition to being an exciting game, it was also youth night. Girls basketball players from Kindergarten to 6th grade were recognized, and tickets for raffle baskets were sold to support those battling cancer.
