Trent Walker drives for two of his game-high 21 points in B-A’s win over Tyrone in the Backyard Brawl.

The Blue Devils celebrated their first victory of the season against the Tyrone Golden Eagles at Tyrone last Friday. Thanks to a 17-point outburst in the second quarter from junior Trent Walker, the Blue Devils were able to pull through with a 55-38 win.

While Tyrone had the lead in the first quarter, freshman Travis Luensmann kept the Blue Devils close with a three and senior Joe Padula got the shortfall under the double digits by adding two points with no time left on the clock, ending the first quarter with a score of 19-11.

Bellwood soon caught up to the Golden Eagles in the second quarter when Trent Walker made five threes including one, as time expired, putting the Blue Devils in the lead 30-27 at half time.

As the game went on, Bellwood’s defense went on to force four turnovers and keep Tyrone away from the basket as much as possible leading Senior Jarrett Taneyhill to add a total of 6 points to their score.

Padula is proud of BA’s defense and thinks they played well.

“It was a good team win. Defensively, besides the first quarter, we did what we needed to do” he said “Trent Walker stepped up and made some big shots in the second quarter.
