Blue Devils make exit from postseason
Trent Walker dropped 21 points on North Catholic but it wasn’t enough as B-A made its exit from the PIAA playoffs with a 16-point loss.

On Friday the post season ended for the Bellwood-Antis boys’ basketball team with a tough loss, served up by the Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic Trojans at Gateway High school in Monroeville.
The game ended with Bellwood trailing by 16, losing 67-51. It was much closer than the final score indicated, but it slipped away from the boys in the third quarter.
Trent Walker had a game high of 21 points, with Joe Padula next at 12, but the Trojans had a little too much depth for B-A.
The Devils had a great season overall, winning 18 games and only losing 8. They also made their third straight appearance in the PIAA playoffs, which had never been done before by a boys team at Bellwood-Antis.
“We came out hot and played our game and they just outlasted us and won the game,” said Ethan McGee.
B-A trailed 36-30 at halftime against the WPIAL champions after Walker scored 19 in the first half. The Devils took the lead at 41-40 in the third on a layup by Jarrett Taneyhill, but it was all North Catholic after that.
“It was fun to go out there and play the game, but it was unfortunate that we could come out and get the win,” said Joe Padula.
Bellwood will have a great team next year with freshman Travis Luensmann back and getting much better, plus many others such as Troy Walker, Trent Walker, Tanner Worthing, Mason Yingling, and Clay Engle.
