With a decent season last year for the Bellwood-Antis track team, the boys are looking to have an even better season in 2017.

Sophomore Shawn Wolfe had a breakout campaign as a freshman, taking second place with his 4×400 relay team at an the Bellwood Invitational, and  first place at a meet against McConnellsburg and West Branch.

Wolfe is no stranger to success.

For his efforts, Shawn Wolfe has been selected as the BluePrint’s Athlete of the Week.

For only having one year of experience on the track team, Shawn has definitely has made an impact.

” I definitely had a better season than I expected,” said Shawn.

When it comes to the sport itself, Wolfe loves the effort that goes into track and field.

“I like that everything you do matters for your team to win,” he said.

Track and field is something that Shawn has been interested in for quite a long time, and when he got to high school, he finally got to participate in it.

“I’ve always wanted to do track in high school,” said Shawn.

Coach Nick Lovrich said he has high expectations for Wolfe this season.

“Shawn had a pretty good year for a freshman last season so we are expecting him to do a lot for us this season,” he said.  “He is a very talented runner and could be successful in a lot of different running events.  I think he could probably run any event from the 100-meter dash to the 800-meter run and be successful.  He has been working very hard so far this spring, so hopefully that hard work will equate into a great year for him.”

As far as goals for the upcoming season, Shawn wants to make it to Districts and have a good season. He will be competing in the sprint and mid-distance events as well as running a leg in one or two relays.
