If you’re going to beat a team like Bellefonte a returning state champion you can’t give up walks and let them jump on top at the beginning.

But that’s what happened for Bellwood-Antis yesterday in a 7-1 non-conference loss in Centre County.

Bellwood was off to a pretty good start, leading 1-0 in the first, but gave up 4 by the end of the first. All of Bellefonte’s runs were scored with 2 outs and Bellwood just couldn’t get that last out.

In the first inning alone Blue Devils starter Blake Johnston, who took the loss, walked four. In all B-A pitchers walked nine on the day.

Brendan Kowalski, Saywer Kline, Jordan McCracken, and Ian McFarland were the only players from Bellwood to get hits. Jordan McCracken drove in Joe Padula for the only run.

Bellefonte never let up, scoring 3 more runs by the end of the game and Bellwood couldn’t get anything going offensively or defensively.

B-A’s record on the season evened at 4-4 with a trip to Juniata Valley on the horizon for Thursday. Bellefonte improved to 7-2.
