On Sunday , Bellwood-Antis School District was the host to about 400 chorus students from 36 different school districts competing for a spot in the Pennsylvania Music Educator’s Association District 6 chorus festival for 5 straight.

Thirteen students from B-A auditioned, and four came out with a well deserved spot in District Chorus: Robert Vankirk, Dominick Faith, Shalee Bennett, and Idemarie Lugo. Kyra Woomer fell short, needing only 2 points to get the 22nd chair, and she was named an alternate. However, if someone cannot fulfill their position, Woomer will be the first to fill in for that person.

Other competitors from Bellwood-Antis included: Alex Roberts, Kaleah Smith, Kaitlin Shanafelt, Brooke Beichler, Anna Sloey, Karlie Feathers, and Cazen Cowfer.

It was a long day for everyone involved, none less than the group of volunteers from Bellwood organized by music teacher Mrs. Hull to help the day go smoothly. Many volunteers were music students.

Jack Showalter, one of the helpers from B-A, thought things went smooth for how many people were present.

“I think things went very smoothly. Ms.Hall did a fantastic job setting up and organizing the event,” said Showalter.

The District chorus concert will be held in January at Portage Area High School.
