Moshannon Valley’s Alex Kitko did his best to stop the Blue Devil onslaught and scored a game high 27 points in doing so, but it was not enough as the Blue Devils topped the Black Knights 71-56 last night in Houtzdale.

Trent Walker, Bellwood-Antis’ leading scorer this season, followed behind Kitko scoring 23 points, and fellow B-A senior Tanner Worthing added 16. Also contributing to the Blue Devils’ balanced offensive attack were juniors Nathan Wolfe, who scored 8 points, TJ Wyland, who scored 7 points, and Mason Yingling, who added 6 points to the win. Senior guard Clay Engle contributed 7 points as well.

The Blue Devils started the game off hot, knocking home 20 points to the Black Knight’s 12 in the first quarter, and they finished the half with an 11-point lead.

Continuing on their momentum into the second half, B-A came out of the break and added 17 points to Moshannon Valley’s 10, and with an 18 point lead Bellwood-Antis decided to take out its starters. This allowed senior Jack Showalter to score 4 points and gave access for four other players to get into the game.

Now 9-3 overall and 5-1 in the ICC, the Blue Devils will take the court again January 19 when they play Claysburg-Kimmel at Claysburg.
