One Bellwood-Antis sophomore has been recognized in the community for her input and involvement in organizations.

Sophomore Anna Greene is a Tribute Honoree for the WISE Woman of Blair County County.

The mission of WISE Woman is dedicated to empowering women and eliminating racism through collaboration, service and education.

Anna was honored as a Rising Star.

Sarah Hellen McCloskey, a social member at the Excelsior No1 Fire Hall recognized Anna’s work and nominated her after Anna organized the successful Stuff the Squad during the holiday season last year.

After that, Anna, some Excelsior members, Anna’s parents, and a few teachers wrote recommendation letters.

WISE Woman really liked that Anna was in a field dominated by men.

“I also think they liked that I’m in a field where I’m risking my life,” said Anna.

Anna said she never expected to earn the honor.

“It really surprised me but I’m honored because of all the other nominees and what I did to get to this point,” Greene said.

On April 18 there will be a Banquet for the honored nominees at the Lakemont Casino.
