BA track boys sweep, girls split

Senior Clay Engle had a good day in the snow, taking three first places in the process

The Bellwood-Antis boys track team remained undefeated yesterday with a pair of wins over McConnelsburg and Tussey Mountain despite frigid temperatures.

Clay Engle swept all three of his jumping events against Tussey Mountain and McConnels­burg. BA beat Tussey by a score of (108-41) and McConnelsburg by a score of (97-52).

Tanner Worthing won the 400 meter dash and Max DeArmitt won the 800 meter run. Followed by Robert Vankirk picking up two victories in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs.

Chris Wertman took a first in shot put along with BA’s Joe Wertz taking second.

Continuing with the field events, Jared Zitterbart took first in discus while Braden Heisler took first in javelin.

As for the girls, they split a pair. They beat Tussey Mountain by a score of (86-55) but lost to McConnelsburg by a score of (97-52).

Kamryn Mercer contributed winning all three of her jumping events as well.

Jenna Bartlett took first in both the 1600 and 3200 meter run and Sicily Yingling took a first in the 800 meter run.

Brianna Reiter took first in the 100 meter hurdles.

As for pole vault, the top three were all from BA. Jaydyn Shuke took first, Kaleah Smith took second and Sydney Lechner took third.
