5. Sing the Sorrow by AFI; 2003
This is album known by many people who wanted to say that the song off of this very album, “The Great Disappointment” was dedicated to them. AFI released this album way back in 2003 and it featured their greatest work. This album featured songs like “The Great Disappointment,” “Silver and Cold,” “Death of Seasons,” “Dancing of Seasons,” “Paper Airplanes (Makeshift Wings),” and of course their biggest hit single, “Girls Not Grey.” AFI didn’t become really big as a band until the release of this album and it landed them a spot on the billboard charts as well as live performance at the Hard Rock café.

4. Your Favorite Weapon by Brand New; 2001
Ah yes, the classic album by Brand New. Where it all started for Brand New. This album is basically the start of emo for this band. Everyone paid attention to these guys simply because they sounded like they wanted to rebel against their parents, and that’s what teens wanted to do and still want to do to this day. This album had some great rock hits like “Failure By Design,” “Secondary,” “The No Seatbelt Song,” “The Shower Scene,” “Seventy Times 7,” “Mix Tape,” and “Sudden Death in Carolina.”

3. Take This to Your Grave by Fallout Boy; 2003
This was the beginning for the “legendary” band we know today as Fallout Boy. The reason I saw “legendary” with quotation marks is because they’re not actually legendary. They MAY have been at one point but instantly lost it once they decided to turn more to the pop side. Anyways, ignoring the disappointment we know of today as Fallout Boy, let’s go back to the greatness we used to know. This album was great in so many ways for all emo fans around the world. It featured some great songs like “Saturday,” “Grand Theft Autumn/Where is Your Boy?” “Sending Postcards From a Plane Crash (Wish You Were Here),” “The Pros and Cons of Breathing,” “Dead on Arrival,” and “Homesick at Space Camp.” No emo kid can deny that this is where Fallout Boy was truly a great band.

2. Tell All Your Friends by Taking Back Sunday; 2002
What’s sad about this is that I knew this band, but I didn’t know this album existed. I want to acknowledge Mr. Stewart for introducing me to this album whenever I asked him which albums I should add to this list. Although he also did give me number 3 and 4 as well. This album was the best of all that I had a listen to. This album featured great songs like “The Blue Channel,” “Ghost Man on Third,” “Bike Scene,” “You Know How I Do,” and the best on the album, “There’s No ‘I’ in Team.” This album will make you feel like the inner rebellious side of you is jumping put and trying to give a voice of its own opinion. You can’t any better than the classics though, so why was I surprised this was a really good album.

1. I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love by My Chemical Romance; 2002
That’s right. No big surprise who’s at the top of the emo list. My Chemical Romance is known for basically being the definition of emo. And I know that half of you My Chemical Romance “fans” aren’t going to know this album. But I can tell you right now, that it’s actually better than “The Black Parade.” I’m not saying “The Black Parade” isn’t good, I’m just simply saying that this one was better in my opinion. Anyways, if this album didn’t have your inner dark side jumping out and singing and you call yourself emo, you’re living a lie. Sure this album is more or so unknown to a lot of people, but it’s got some great songs on it. This album featured great songs like “Demolition Lovers,” “Honey This Mirror Isn’t Big Enough For the Both of Us,” “Vampires Will Never Hurt You,” “Cubicles,” “Skylines and Turnstiles,” “This is the Best Day Ever,” “Drowning Lessons,” “Our Lady of Sorrows,” “Early Sunsets Over Monroeville,” and “Headfirst for Halos.” That’s right. I just named literally ever song off of the album simply because the entire album is so good. I highly recommend if you’ve never listened to this album before and you call yourself a My Chemical Romance fan. Or if your just plain emo.
