The Bellwood-Antis girls basketball team destroyed the defending PIAA 1A runner up Juniata Valley Lady Hornets by a convincing score of 79-55 at the Bellwood-Antis High School gymnasium.

Junior Alli Campbell did her thing as she had a 26-point triple double, adding in 12 rebounds and 10 assists.

B-A started off on fire, making 7 of 11 three pointers, and held a 17-point lead at the half.

B-A had some key players step up in the scoring column as Junior Emilie Leidig had 18 points and 4 threes, while Jaydyn Shuke added 11 points on 3 threes.

Senior Riley D’Angelo felt it was a statement game.

“I think we made a big statement,” she said. “When we play together and are at our best, there isn’t much that can stop us except ourselves.”

Coach Jim Swaney credited his team’s added emphasis in practice on attacking zone defense.

‘We have put in a lot of time over the last couple weeks with our zone offense.  We were able to get a lot more movement and penetration which set up our outside shooting,’ he said.  “Jaydyn Shuke really stepped up and made some big baskets.  Sakeria is getting better every  game and starting to become a dominate player.  Riley (D’Angelo), Emilie and Alli do what they always do: play outstanding defense, hit open shots, handle the ball  and be creative on the offensive end.  When we shoot the ball like we did last night it will take a very good team to challenge us.”

The lady Blue Devils improve to 9-2 overall, with a 4-0 conference record.

Valley, whose only other loss this season had come to 6A State College, suffered its first ICC loss.
