The Lady Blue Devils advanced to 10-2 after their win against Moshannon Valley on Thursday. Recently, the Lady Devils beat long time rivals Juniata Valley. Junior Jaydyn Shuke put up crucial points in both games.

This made Shuke The Blueprint’s Athlete of the Week.

As it stands, Shuke has 113 career points. Against Juniata Valley and Mo-Valley, she scored 11 points in each game.

“Compared to my sophomore season, my junior season holds a lot more offensive and defensive skills. My shot has definitely improved,” said Shuke

Teammate Riley D’Angelo has also noticed Jaydyn’s impact on the court.

“She has really stepped up and come up with some big buckets when we needed them. We are really proud of her improvement from last season,” said D’Angelo.

Being 2017-2018 PIAA state champions, the girls have been involved in fast-paced games against teams who want to take their place.

“I think we have a pretty good chance at getting to states again if we keep working as a team on the court and off the court,” Shuke said. “The end goal is getting to states, but we need to take each game minute by minute. Practices are more intense this year because we have a bigger target on our backs. We have to be more prepared for better games, and I think we have been handling it well. Other teams have been giving us a lot of pressure and we are continuing to push back.”

The girls play against Clayburg-Kimmel on Tuesday the 15th away.
